This weekend was very busy. Friday after work and exercise we had a celebratory dinner in honor of Sara's excellent performance on the GRE. Then came the moment of truth with respect to the beer. After we sanitized everything and opened the fermenter it smelled exactly like beer. There was no sulfur scent at all. Satisfied that it was not contaminated we added some priming sugar and put it into the bottles where it will develop bubbles over the next couple of weeks. It was left in the fermenter longer than it should so the resulting beer is likely to be heavy on the hydroxyethane and a little light on the CO2 bubbles.

On Saturday we awoke early and packed the vehicle for a trip to Anderson. There I delivered a computer for my grandparents' sojourn. After pushing a few bits around for them we headed further south. Still exuberant from our success with the beer we paid another visit to Great Fermentations. This time we didn't cut it so close to their closing time and we were able to spend some time in the store. It is a great place and the owner is very friendly. If you don't know what to do feel free to ask her; she is very knowledgeable and accommodating.

From there we made our way to Keystone and had an absolutely fabulous dinner in celebration of Terry's 29th birthday. This year he chose Sullivan's as the venue and it was a fantastic choice. I hadn't been there since the evening of my senior prom. It remains a fantastic epicurean experience that has only been enhanced by the fact that I can now drink alcohol legally. The company was also excellent. This year the mix was a bit more eclectic including CS people, Arxanites, and some of Terry's Cactus crowd. I am sure that I speak for one and all when I wish Terry many happy returns.

Sunday was recovery day. Sara and I cleaned the house. The second law of thermodynamics had really had its way with the place recently due to (1) everyone being very busy and (2) Brad moving out.

Today Arxan treated a couple of teams, mine included, to some go-kart racing at Silent Thunder. Next weekend Sara and I are making a trip to Chicago.
