Bards, Paladins, Rangers, and Courtesans are
considered to be secondary spell casters. Secondary spell
casters begin casting at 4th level. Bards and Courtesans cast wizard
spells. Rangers and Paladins cast priest
spells.
At fourth level they are considered first level
spell casters for the purposes of determining spell
effects. Thereafter their casting level advances by one per
level. For example a 9th level bard could cast a fireball, but
it would do 6d6 points of damage because he/she is considered to
be a 6th level caster. The spell progression for all secondary
casters appears below.
