Faith Design SheetName of Worshiped Being : RymathistAlignment of Deity : Neutral Good Goal and Purpose of Faith : Alleviation of Suffering History of the God : Rymathist is one of three deities that was born a mortal. He became a priest of Tara. After many great deeds he was slain fighting the forces of Verona. However while in the underworld he learned that the dark god Mizerak was plotting with Verona to return to the world. So great was Rymathist's desire to do good and help the people of the world that he escaped from the prison where Verona held his soul. Amazingly he even managed to escape from the underworld. Once free he fought heroically against the return of Mizerak. Occasionally he traveled with the Keepers of the light. However he was privy to none of their misdeeds. Through his great wisdom and kindness he managed to free an ancient and noble race of blue skinned creatures from their demonic captors. After Mizerak's return Rymathist single handedly destroyed him in Corinthia. For this great deed he was granted divinity by the gods. He justly rules over the realm of his fallen mistress Tara. Harm is considered necessary iff the being's continued life will bring more suffering to others than its death will cause. Priests may not allow anyone to be handed over to be tortured. Male priests must take a vow of chastity. All priests must undertake penance for infractions of the laws of the church. All priests are expected to contribute generously to the cause of alleviating suffering (often but not necessarily through the church). They may only keep enough wealth to maintain a meager existence. Keeping any wealth or magic that does not directly aid them in removing suffering from the world is frowned upon. Spheres of Major Access : All, Divination, Guardian, Healing, Necromantic, Protection Spheres of Minor Access : Charm, Elemental Granted Powers : • At 1st level a priest of Rymathist detects the presence of suffering up to 60 feet away. This ability is always active. • At 1st level a priest of Rymathist can turn undead. • At 1st level a priest of Rymathist may re-roll the result of any healing spell that resulted in only 1 hitpoint being healed. • At 3rd level a priest of Rymathist gains the ability to cast the "Cure Moderate Wounds" spell. Second level spell. Cures 1d10 points of damage. • At 5th level a priest of Rymathist may "Remove Pain" from someone three times per day. The recipient of the "Remove Pain" ability feels no pain for the duration of the effect. The recipient may move and act normally. This ability does not cause them to move stiffly, nor does it make them seem drugged or drunk. Their body registers all feeling normally except for pain which is not felt at all. This is a two edged sword. This ability negates any negative modifiers caused by pain or discomfort. However, it is not curative by itself. One can cause oneself serious harm while under the effects of this ability and never know it until it wears off. This ability requires a successful touch and lasts one hour per level of the priest. Any being who does not accept is entitled to a saving throw versus spell (modified for wisdom) at the time the touch occurs. A successful save negates the effect. • At 9th level a priest of Rymathist receives the "euthanos" ability. This ability allows the priest to grant a completely painless and nearly instantaneous death to one willing recipient with the touch of a hand or a specially prepared staff. The being must be completely willing and completely aware of what is going on though they need not be conscious. It is said that those upon which this ability is used receive a vision of a holy being who asks them if they are ready to leave this world and answers any simple questions they may have about the process. If they accept the holy being guides them to the land of the dead. It is said that Rymathist is especially protective of those who pass on in this manner. He has even been known to bargain with dark gods who may have claims on their souls to take them to a better place. If the being does not accept he/she is instantaneously returned to his or her body. They are dazed for a round but otherwise unaffected. This ability may be used as often as necessary, but requires a few moments of preparation for each use. The priest may not use this ability on himself. Other : Former priests of Tara may convert to priests of Rymathist at no experience penalty.
