Questions for Character Development

The vast majority of these questions were created by Rich Taylor. The original unmodified test is hosted here courtesy of Jennifer Brozek. I came across these questions a while back and thought that they were some of the best of the many ([1], [2], [3], [4]) I had seen. However, I decided to modify them slightly in order to remove the emphasis on white-wolf games. I also discovered that answering all of these questions was a bit much to ask of a player. As such, I have included instructions to cut down on the ammount of writing required. *****

Post-Supernatural Awareness Questions

  1. When did you go through whatever made you supernatural? What was it like (in your opinion)?
  2. What do you think now of being supernatural? Is it cool, or have you been screwed?
  3. Do you have a mentor? Who are they? How did you become their student?
  4. Do you have any magical items? Where did you get them?
  5. What do you think of the other denizens of the World of Darkness? Why for each? (If you haven't met something, do you think it exists, and if it does, is that bad or good?)
  6. Think of a major event that happened during your training/initiation
  7. What was it?
  8. What is something you had to learn during your training that you hated? Why did you hate it?

MAGE QUESTIONS

1. How do you feel about your tradition?
2. How do you feel about Sleepers?
3. What tradition, outside of your own, do you feel the biggest connection with? Why?
4. What tradition do you dislike the most, and why?
5. What is a bigger curse to Mages, Paradox or Hubris, and why?
6. Have you ever been in Quiet before? What was it like?
7. What's a bigger threat to reality right now, the Technocracy or the Nephandi? Why?
8. Is it better to destroy your enemies or convert them? Why?
9. Should Ascension be personal or social, and why?
10. Define Magick, in your own terms. What is it? How does it work? Are Foci tools or crutches, and why?
11. Describe your avatar in detail, both in appearance and personality.
12. Do you think the Traditions can win the Ascension War? Why?

GAROU QUESTIONS

1. How do you feel about your tribe?
2. How do you feel about humans? Are any of them worth a damn?
3. What Tribe, outside your own, do you feel the biggest connection with? Why?
4. What Tribe do you dislike the most, and why? (Other than Black Spiral Dancers and Skin Dancers)
5. Is the Delirium a Curse or a Blessing? Why do you think that?
6. What is a bigger threat to reality - the Weaver or the Wyrm? Why?
7. How do you feel about your Auspice?
8. How do you feel about the other four Auspices? Go into detail - how important is their role in the protection of Gaia? (Don't be specific - treat the Auspices based on what their duty is supposed to be.)
9. What do you think of the Umbra?
10. What do you think of the Litany? Is there any problem you have with it? Why do you have that problem? Do you feel other Garou ignore an aspect of it? Which aspect? How about those in your pack - do they follow it? Which part do they need work on?
11. What is your relation with your Totem like?
12. What do you think the Apocalypse is really about? (Data for the uninformed: there's a Garou Heresy that says the Apocalypse represents a time of change as opposed to the end of all things. Do you support the Heresy, or do you take the mainstream view?) Why?

CHANGELING QUESTIONS

1. How do you feel about your Kith? How about your House (if you have one)?
2. Are there any houses/kiths you feel a special bond to? Which ones, and why?
3. Are there any houses/kiths you especially dislike? Which ones and why?
4. Do you owe anything to humans? If so, what and why? If not, why not?
5. What do you think of ravaging? Should it ever be done, never be done, or are their special circumstances? Go into detail .
6. What are your views on the Escheat? Why do you think that way?
7. Is it really better to have loved and lost than to never have loved before? Why?
8. How do you feel about the Shadow Court? Why?
9. How about Dauntain and the Autumn People? Do you hate them, fear them, or pity them? Why?
10. Do you think the approaching Winter is really the end? Explain.
11. High King David, the "Commoner King," has made major steps towards empowering the commoner kiths. Is this good or bad? Why?
12. If you could change current Changeling Society in any one way, what would you do and why? ******************

Future Questions

  1. Is your character progressive, using new technologies as they become available? Is he slow to adapt to technological change? Or is he middle-of-the-road, waiting to see if things work but using them as soon as he's satisfied that they do?
